About QuickTel

QuickTel Network Engineering -

The QuickTel Network Engineering Staff are responsible for architecture, design, and upgrades of the QuickTel network. Their task begins with development of an architectural blueprint for the network. Next, specific pieces of equipment are evaluated and selected. Once this is done, specific equipment configurations--hardware and software--are developed using the architecture as a guideline. Also they are responsible for either directly implementing network systems, or for project management where other vendors are involved.

Other duties of QNES include capacity planning and performance monitoring, resolution of complex troubles and network outages, and pre-sales support for new or potential customers.

QNES staff work closely with the NOC staff to ensure that the QuickTel network remains healthy and in full production, and often consult back and forth to ensure that the best minds are brought to bear on design or support issues.

QNES staff also:

  • configure routers to support new customer service;

  • provision and installation of software and hardware upgrades to equipment as necessary;

  • support Installations and Technical Support (ITS) Engineers in the design of custom service;

  • maintain a pool of spare network components supporting the QuickTel backbone against equipment failure;

  • work with complex problems escalated from ITS or the NOC.
